Reborning is in fact the reworking of a normal doll to a doll that is almost lifelike.
To do this I use Genesis Heat Set Paints. Thes are permanent and will never fade.
The babies are extremely realistic and they have veins, dry skin. Everything that you could expect in a baby.
To root a baby's head takes me about 3-5 days. To root a baby’s head takes me about 3-5 days. I obviously don’t work at it continuously but certainly a number of hours per day. If I do nothing else all day, it would take me about 2 days. After the rooting is completed, the inside is glued with a water resistant glue so that one can also wash and comb the hair. If the baby has closed the eyes, then the eye-lashes are also rooted. My reborns are equipped with hand-blown Lauscher glass eyes. These are not cheap, but I find them the most realistic. The babies must of course also have the same weight as a real baby and I therefore fill the arms, legs, body and head of the baby with a glass and metal alloy mixture. To give the baby high cuddle quality, I also put in cotton wool and rubber granules. The head must be weighted so that when the baby is picked up the head must be supported just as you would do with a real baby. When the baby is finished, a signature is placed on the body so that one can always see by whom it was made and when. I dress the baby with cute baby clothes and at that stage we have a newborn “reborn”.
A reborn from the “Take Good care Of My baby Nursery” is supplied with the following:
